Responsibilities
- Lead explorations at the intersection of brain architecture and machine systems. Translate insights from human and animal connectomes into principles that inform our AI’s memory, attention, and sense of self.
- Help define and test hypotheses about what it means for a system to be “aware” of its inputs, past interactions, and internal states. Contribute to building models that mimic or approximate aspects of human-like consciousness.
- Design experiments that push the boundaries of applied neuroscience in AI. Collaborate on prototypes that make these ideas real, usable, and testable in our product ecosystem.
Requirements
- Background in Neuroscience, Connectomics, or Cognitive Science: experience with large-scale brain data, neural circuit mapping, or computational models of cognition. Thinks in networks, not just neurons.
- Translational instincts to bridge theory and practice and help build conscious-like systems.
- Startup mindset: energized by ownership, speed, ambiguity, and impact, not by long roadmaps and red tape.
Cultural Values
- Decisive: bias for action and learning.
- Resourceful: prioritizes to maximize impact with least effort.
- Craft: exercises good judgment on when work is done enough.
- Candor: gives and receives candid feedback, speaks up if disagrees.
- Communication: transparent, creates clarity from ambiguity, and does so with zest.
- Collaboration: helps others, shows empathy, and listens well.
