Almost every AI tool shipped in the last three years was built for one person. You open a chat, you get an output, you paste it into a doc nobody else opens. Mural is one of the few companies arguing that this is the actual problem, not the solution, and it is hiring designers and researchers to fix it.
The company calls the thing it is building multiplayer AI. If you are a product designer or researcher who has spent the last two years watching your team get individually faster and collectively more confused, this is an unusually interesting place to work in 2026.
What Mural does
Mural is a visual work platform, the infinite canvas where teams run workshops, map customer journeys, plan sprints and cluster research. It was founded in 2011 by four Argentines. The origin story matters for anyone considering a job there: the founders were working on video games for Disney from Buenos Aires while half the team sat in the United States, and they built Mural because distributed collaboration was broken for them first (Forbes Argentina).
It worked. Mural raised a $50M Series C in 2021 at a valuation above $2B, led by Insight Partners and Tiger Global, which made it Argentina's sixth unicorn (Mural). It says 95% of Fortune 100 companies use the product. In 2022 it acquired the LUMA Institute, the Pittsburgh outfit behind the 36-method LUMA System for human-centered design, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary and its own product surface.
Leadership turned over recently. Leigh-Margaret Stull became CEO in July 2024, Elaina O'Mahoney joined as Chief Product Officer in early 2025 and Omar Ayub came in as CTO in September 2025. That is a full product and technical leadership rebuild inside roughly 18 months, which usually means one thing for designers: the roadmap is open.
What Mural is building right now
The current bet is that AI has created an alignment gap. As Mural's product team put it in a 2026 webinar recap, teams running five to eight AI tools at once end up "drowning in disconnected outputs with no shared place to make sense of them" (Mural blog).
Two things come out of that thesis. The first is the Mural MCP Server, in public preview on paid plans, which lets MCP-compatible agents like Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Cursor read and write directly on a canvas as real-time collaborators rather than one-shot generators. The second is Mural Compose, a voice-to-visual workflow that turns user interview recordings into transcripts, summaries and insights mapped onto the canvas.
For a designer, that is a hard brief. Some of the participants are not human, the canvas has to stay legible when an agent drops forty stickies onto it, and enterprise admins need an audit trail for everything the agent touched.

What Woody's data says about the roadmap
Mural has posted 18 jobs on Woody, and the seven design and product roles listed over the past year say more about the company's direction than any press release.
Every single one is Remote. Not one onsite role, not one hybrid role. The locations are the United States, Canada and Argentina, which lines up exactly with the founding story: the Buenos Aires roots are still in the hiring footprint, and the Director of Product Management, Admin & Security was open to candidates in all three countries at once.
The titles read like a roadmap. Lead Product Designer, AI Agentic Workflows. Principal Product Designer, Integrated Workflows. Senior Visual Systems Designer. Product Designer, Services, LUMA. Senior Product Designer, Monetization. Agents, integrations, design system, methodology, revenue. That is a company shipping an AI platform while tightening the commercial engine underneath it.
The seniority skew is the other signal. Almost everything is Senior, Lead, Principal or Director. The newest listing, Principal, User Research in the United States, is a principal-level UX research role. Mural is not building a junior bench right now, it is hiring people who can define a space without a playbook.
What it is like to work there
Mural has been fully remote for more than a decade, and it is one of the rare companies where that is a product claim as much as an HR one: the team runs on its own canvas. Its services team built its own "team operating system" asynchronously inside a mural, then packaged the approach as a New Ways of Working workshop series for customers.
The published benefits on the Mural careers page are specific enough to be useful: a $150 monthly Muralvida stipend for fitness, wellness, learning or coworking, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible time off with a suggested floor of 15 days, a full company week off at the end of December, quarterly company-wide closures, up to $5k in 401(k) matching in the US, and internal design thinking training. That last one is the LUMA effect: everyone gets taught the methods the company sells.
The hiring process
Mural runs its hiring on Ashby and does not publish a formal loop, but candidate reports on Glassdoor describe a consistent design process: a recruiter call over Zoom, a portfolio case study presentation with the design VP, a one-hour remote design exercise with the head of design, then a conversation with the product manager for the relevant pillar. Senior product designer candidates rate the difficulty at 4 out of 5.
Practical advice: the design exercise is a whiteboarding session at a company that makes whiteboards. Show your thinking on the canvas rather than arriving with a finished answer, and bring a case study where you had to get a group of people to agree on something, not just one where you polished a flow.
Salaries
Two sources, and they mostly agree.
From Woody's own live listings, the bands Mural published are: >$200k for both Principal, User Research (US) and the Director of Product Management role, $150k to $200k for the Lead Product Designer on AI agentic workflows, and $100k to $150k for the LUMA services product designer.
From public data, Levels.fyi reports a median total compensation of about $200K for product designers at Mural in the US, with the highest reported package at $300K. Argentina-based UX designer packages are reported separately in pesos, so treat the US and LATAM bands as genuinely different ladders rather than one global number.
Where to start
If Mural fits, start with the company profile on Woody to see everything live, then browse product design, UX and product roles more broadly. Since every Mural opening so far has been remote, the remote jobs feed is worth watching too.
Mural posts in bursts rather than continuously, so the reliable way to catch the next one is to set a job alert and let it come to you.
