Exploding Kittens is seeking to contract an Illustrator to join our growing and fast-paced team. In this role you will collaborate with the various departments including game development, marketing, production and the company leadership team. In this role you will be responsible for game ideation and translating game mechanics into themed art assets. In addition, you will Illustrate ideas from rough sketches to final full color digital artwork with an ability to tell a story through supporting written copy. The ideal candidate is an experienced illustrator/artist, creative thinker with a personal art style that is humor-focused and aligned with the Exploding Kittens brand.

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE: 

• Create illustrations and other related art assets for new products such as playing cards, various game pieces, instructions, and puzzles
• Collaborate with other artists, and cross-departmentally with the Game Development team to develop early game concepts and explorations eventually leading to a completed product
• Provide additional concepts and illustrations related to other company executions such as collateral and promotional materials 
• Keep up with the latest trends in illustration software and techniques
• Storytelling through art and written copy

WHAT WE NEED: 

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a creative working environment
• Strong illustrative and art background with an affinity for compelling design
• Ability to produce smart, humorous and original ideas, using visual, verbal and written skills
• Working knowledge of print production
• Competency in the Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, along with proficiency in Google Suite
• Ability to handle multiple projects in an agile, fast-paced environment while maintaining creative brand excellence
• Balanced temperament and comfort level with constructive feedback and a secure understanding of changes requested and implementing direction
• An organized and logical approach to both the planning and execution of work with the proven ability to express views in both verbal and written communications
• Detail-oriented with a flexible, problem-solving attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
• Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and maintain positive and professional relationships with employees of all levels and backgrounds

WHAT WE’D LOVE:

• Experience working with motion graphics, video and animation software such as After Effects, Premier, Animate (Flash)
• Experience in 3-D software such as Maya, Max, Z-Brush or Blender
• Experience designing for retail, consumer products and games 
• Creative storyteller with experience in sequential art and comics
• Comedic background; either through illustrative and written experience or stand-up/comedy troupe
