Job Description
Your role as our Head of Design is to set the strategic vision and goals for tooling, logic, features, and mechanics of the design platform which will help Kittl cement its position globally as the leading collaborative graphic design software. Youโll report to our CPO.
Youโll own the execution of Product Design across the business. Your team of 4 senior UX/UI Product Designers are at the top of their game [not to be underestimated, the standards are very high, and this makes for incredible innovations]. Your weekly design reviews will be swift and strategic, removing any blockers, ensuring design system consistency, and directing the team on projects.
This is a transition role so in the first few months, youโll act as a senior designer for the core product team working on our newest team and designing real-time collaboration features. Youโll immediately be involved in hiring senior designers to help your teamโs capability continue to flourish. The first role to hire will be the Senior Product Designer for our collaboration team.
What youโll do
- Provide strategic leadership for the design team, across the business and cross-functionally with other teams
- Youโll adopt a whole-of-business perspective, proactive approach to growing our business, and a consistently positive and growth-oriented mindset
- Lead the Product Design team, with its 4 senior designers who currently work cross functionally
- Hire and build the team, with at least one person in the first 3 monthsmwho will take a Senior Product Designer role (youโll fulfil these tasks until the position is filled)
- Manage your teamโs strategy, objectives, KPIs, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Kittl's business goals
- Use and communicate with data to track team and product design performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
- Collaborate with various teams to help develop and evolve the current product design proposition
- Last but not least, design! Youโll design user flows, create wireframes, prototypes, and graphics that are intuitive and visually appealing
What youโll need
- You're currently leading other A* product designers and have experience leading senior designers. You understand how to lead and build teams, direct, coach, strategise, and advocate for their domain
- Youโre hands-on and have at least five years of commercial product design experience delivering high-grade UI/UX design and designing user experiences for SaaS products or gaming
- Proficiency in Figma, with a sharp eye for visual details
- An innate understanding of metrics, KPIs, and how design can impact them
- Expertise in design principles, typography, colour theory, and user-centred design principles
- Passionate about design for software products
- Strong communication across all levels
- Able to effectively collaborate and lead cross functional team members - be it designers, PMs, or engineers when needed
- Youโre motivated to take initiative, prioritise, and manage multiple project and leadership tasks simultaneously
