Role Overview
- Lead design efforts for Catalog and Insights products focusing on data discovery, metadata management, and analytics governance.
- Create intuitive experiences for analytics engineers, data practitioners, and business users to understand complex data relationships.
- Design interfaces that enhance usability and data trust, enabling confident navigation and classification of data assets.
- Own full design processes from user research to prototyping and production.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape long-term vision for data discovery and governance experiences.
Key Initiatives
- Enhanced Search: Re-imagine how users find and filter data assets across organizations.
- Catalog as Governance Interface: Design accessible tools for data classification and compliance.
- BI Integration & Extended Lineage: Visualize data flow from source to dashboard.
- Cost Insights: Help data teams understand and optimize warehouse spend.
Responsibilities
- Conduct user research and apply insights to guide design decisions.
- Prototype, test, and iterate quickly with real users.
- Collaborate closely with PMs, engineers, and designers to deliver cohesive and accessible experiences.
- Contribute to the design system and improve consistency across products.
- Mentor junior designers and participate in team critiques.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience creating complex B2B or enterprise tools.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design process, decisions, and outcomes.
- Experience with iterative design, rapid prototyping, and testing.
- Ability to conduct user research and incorporate insights into design.
- Strong collaboration skills and a low-ego approach.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and prioritize effectively.
- Familiarity with modern data ecosystem or experience with data-focused teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing interfaces for data discovery or catalog systems.
- Understanding of data governance concepts (ownership, sensitivity, classification).
- Familiarity with enterprise data ecosystems collaboration.
- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS).
- Experience with product analytics tools, dbt, or data engineering workflows.
- Awareness of accessibility best practices for technical products.
