Job Description
We're moving through uncharted territory with brand new design challenges around chat, UI, brand, ToV and applied machine learning that you can't just look up the answer to. We're a small but growing design team with an excellent bunch of engineers who are building faster than we can design. And of course, we are solving money problems that make a very real and tangible difference to our users.
NB: We are unable to sponsor visas for this role, unfortunately. You should be based in the UK (or open to relocation), ideally close to London so you can visit the office on a regular basis. We offer hybrid working - for staff in London we encourage you to come to the office one to two times per week but this is flexible.
What youโll be doing
This role will involve hands-on design work as part of a squad but youโll also get the chance to mentor and develop a small team of designers if you'd like to.
You will be:
- Designing and owning the financial relationship that a user has with Cleo, from engaging with budgeting and insights that help them manage their money to product-specific flows
- Looking across all Cleo products for opportunities to deepen the financial relationship with our users
- Leading design for your squad and if you'd like to, directly managing one to three senior designers
- Owning both the user and the business problems within your squad, balancing the trade off's and relating these back to the wider squad and company mission
- Creating clarity and alignment within the squad on proposed solutions through journeys, wireframes and prototypes
- Informing your designs with both qualitative and data-driven insights on user needs and pain points
- Executing designs in polished UI in close collaboration with developers
- Creating a great product, UI and chat experience with UX writers
- Planning and prioritising sprint work with product managers
About you
- Youโre at least 5 years into your design career, ideally with some direct line management experience or experience mentoring more junior designers
- Deeply curious about people's relationship with money and driven to help them improve their financial health
- Youโre impact-driven. Youโre excited that an idea you and the team have on a Monday could be live and seeing results by the Friday
- Used to working in a cross-functional squad and seeking out feedback
- You love finding new & improved ways to help our users meet their goals. But you also understand how to break down your work into the most important parts to test and validate
- A strong communicator who is capable of bringing people together and establishing clarity on direction
- You understand experimentation & analysis and incorporate them into your design decisions
- Passionate about craftsmanship and the impact of design
- Familiar with design systems, design DNA and brand experience
- Experience working with a B2C freemium or subscription model would be a huge plus! Experience working with banking products or finances would also be very helpful
What do you get for all your hard work?
- A competitive compensation package (base + equity) with reviews every 8 months. You can view our public progression framework and salary bandings here: https://cleo-ai.progressionapp.com/ - This position is a PD4 level and we can pay ยฃ82,539 - ยฃ106,905 depending on experience.
- Work at one of the fastest-growing tech startups, backed by top VC firms like Sofina, Balderton & EQT Ventures.
- A clear progression plan. We want you to keep growing. That means trying new things, leading others, challenging the status quo and owning your impact. Always with our complete support.
- Flexibility: We treat you as humans first, employees second. Because we canโt fight for the worldโs financial health, if weโre not healthy ourselves. This means all the usual perks but it also means flexibility. We take pride in being a flexible workplace that trusts our Cleople to deliver their best work, giving you the autonomy to structure your day around morning drop-offs to school or daily dog walks.
- Hybrid-first: Join our hybrid-first team, where we blend the best of both remote and in-office work. We expect our team members to be in our London office 1-2 times a week. On Thursdays, we buy you lunch but you can come to the office on whichever days work best for you!
