What You'll Do

• Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Researchers to uncover user needs and design seamless experiences that help readers and writers connect more deeply through storytelling and community.
• Communicate design rationale through clear storytelling, helping teams align around customer needs, product vision, and business goals.
• Own the end-to-end design process across web, iOS, and Android — from discovery through design, implementation, and iteration.
• Grow Wattpad's design culture by mentoring designers, facilitating critiques and workshops, sharing best practices, and helping evolve our design processes.
• Contribute to and evolve Wattpad's design system by creating scalable, consistent patterns and collaborating with engineers to improve implementation quality.
• Champion accessible and inclusive design by applying accessibility standards and advocating for experiences that work for a diverse global audience.
• Leverage AI-powered design tools to improve design quality, accelerate workflows, and uncover new opportunities for product innovation.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates craft and intentional decision-making across complex workflows.
• A track record of independently driving design processes from discovery through launch.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to shape product direction and align on priorities.
• Have cross-platform design experience (web, iOS, AN).
• Experience working with and contributing to design systems.
• Experience leading user research and translating insights into product decisions that drive measurable improvements in outcomes and experience quality.
• Self-starter who is comfortable working in ambiguity and able to collaborate well in fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Figma and collaborative tools, with experience using AI tools to support design workflows.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or related discipline.

Nice To Haves

• Passion for storytelling, reading, and writing.
• Familiarity with Wattpad, WEBTOON, fanfiction communities, or creator platforms.
• An appreciation for fandom culture, online communities, and the ways readers and writers connect around stories.
