About The Role
The Design Lead owns the technical design process for Volta’s data center developments across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, ensuring designs meet global standards while accounting for regional regulatory, climate, and construction considerations.
You’ll manage a network of regional consultants and partners, translating Volta’s global design standards into buildable, compliant designs across the region.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead architectural and engineering design for data center projects across the EMEA region
- Coordinate with global design standards teams (Mechanical, Power, Structural) to ensure consistency across regions
- Manage relationships with regional architecture, engineering, and design consultants
- Review and approve design packages, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations
- Partner with Site Delivery and Land Acquisition teams to align designs with site-specific constraints
- Support value engineering efforts to optimize cost and construction timelines
- Lead design reviews with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Stay current on regional building codes, sustainability requirements, and construction practices
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in architectural or engineering design for data centers or mission-critical facilities
- Strong knowledge of EMEA building codes, permitting processes, and construction practices
- Experience managing external design consultants and multi-disciplinary design teams
- Track record delivering complex technical designs on schedule and budget
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across regional and global teams
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, chartered engineer) a plus
- Willingness to travel across the EMEA region as needed
Compensation Range: €90K - €120K
