About the Design Team

Weโ€™re a tight-knit team of product designers, researchers, and content designers working closely with engineersand product managers to research, explore, and iterate on well-crafted user experiences that are innovative, engaging, and delightful. We collaborate regularly through design critiques, work sessions, and presentations to inspire and influence the direction of the product and company as a whole.

Partnerships is one of the fastest-growing areas of Thumbtackโ€™s business and unlocking new growth opportunities through collaboration. Each new business verticaland partnership represents a unique opportunity to reach new customersand expand the value of Thumbtackโ€™s platform.

Our team operates like a startup within Thumbtack. We identify high-potential verticals, form strategic relationships, and move from concept to product by validating new ideas, defining product-market fit, and scaling what works. Some partnerships are mature and expanding while others are just beginning. Across all of them, we balance experimentation with execution to build products that create mutual value for partners, pros, and homeowners alike.

This role will also help ensure Thumbtackโ€™s evolving brand system shows up consistently in both partner-facingand in-product experiences โ€” connecting our brand into the broader product rather than treating it as a separate track.

About the role

Weโ€™re looking for a Product Designer with excellent prototyping, motion, and brand/visual design skills to join our Partnerships teamand to support how Thumbtackโ€™s brand system shows up across the product. This role sits at the intersection of go-to-market designand in-product brand experience: youโ€™ll pair product design sensibility with storytelling, prototyping, and polish to accelerate partnershipsand go-to-market efforts, while also helping translate brand system updates โ€” iconography, motion language, moments of delight โ€” into consistent, high-craft product experiences beyond Partnerships alone. Youโ€™ll work closely with Business Development, Sales, Go-to-Market Operations, Product, and Brand teams.

This is a product design role with a twist: youโ€™ll spend more of your time than most rolesin visualizing new experiences, prototyping, animation, and production design โ€” creating interactive demosand motion-rich experiences for partners,and elevating motionand brand craft in live product surfaces.

  • Lead a significant portion of our product experienceand be accountable for business outcomes

  • Conduct user researchand lightweight tests to scopeand prioritize product initiatives

  • Transform a vague, ambitious idea into a compelling businessand product case, secure resources,and lead execution with clear success criteria.

  • Champion deep learningsand insights as a core metric, valuing them alongside traditional metrics to fuel smarter, more innovative product decisions.

  • Partner with marketing, engineers, designers, dataand applied scientists to ideate, prioritizeand deliver great solutions for our customersand professionals

  • Coordinate within your teamand among teams at Thumbtack to ensure understanding ofand alignment around projects

  • Drive a high-impact initiativefrom seed to scale, ensuring sustained focusby thoughtfully sunsetting or culling initiativesthat do not meet success criteria.

In Order to Be Successful, You Must Bring

  • 3โ€“5 years of product design experience.

  • A blend of agencyand in-house product design experience, supported by a strong portfolio.

  • Advanced Figma prototyping skills, from low-fidelity flows to high-fidelity experiences with motionand interaction.

  • Experience creating polished micro-interactions, transitions, and animations, with strong attention to craft, timing,and detail.

  • Experience translating brand systems into product experiences through motion, iconography,and UI polish.

  • Understanding of technical feasibilityand ability to collaborate effectively with engineering partners.

  • Strong communicationand visual storytelling skills to align cross-functional stakeholders.

Expected Salary Ranges

  • For candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, New York City, or Seattle metros,the expected total cash compensation(base salary + variable pay, if applicable)range for the role is currently $157,300.00 - $203,500.00.

  • For candidates living in Austin, TX or Washington DC metrosor in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Washington states,the expected total cash compensation(base salary + variable pay, if applicable)range for the role is currently $142,000.00 - $183,700.00.

  • For candidates living in all other US locations,the expected total cash compensation(base salary + variable pay, if applicable)range for this role is currently $133,500.00 - $172,700.00.

Actual offered salaries will varyand will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies,and proficiency for the role.
