Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Product Design to lead our product design team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for shaping the overall design strategy, ensuring the delivery of exceptional user experiences, and driving innovation in our design practices. You will collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align design efforts with business objectives, leading the design team to achieve outstanding results.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive design strategy that aligns with the company's vision and business goals. Set the overall direction for the design team and ensure consistent and high-quality design across all products. Focuses both on long-term vision and near-term goals serving the needs of teams working on complex topics , while balancing inputs from multiple partners while representing a strong and confident POV.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of product designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance and support for professional development and growth within the team.
- Design Excellence: Oversee the design process from concept to final implementation, ensuring that all designs meet user needs and business objectives. Advocate for best practices in user-centered design and usability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, product management, engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and user-focused product development process. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between teams.
- Innovation & Trends: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Drive innovation within the design team, encouraging the exploration of new design approaches and methodologies.
- User Research & Insights: Guide the team in conducting user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis. Leverage insights to inform strategic design decisions and improve the overall user experience.
- Design Systems: Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable design systems and guidelines. Ensure that design standards are adhered to and evolve as needed.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Present design strategies, concepts, and progress to executive leadership and other stakeholders. Incorporate feedback and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and consistency of design deliverables. Review and approve designs to maintain high standards of excellence.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's or Masterโs degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with 3+ years of leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership, including hiring and developing senior managers and individual contributors
- Advanced proficiency in design and prototyping tools.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Experience with creating and maintaining design systems.
- Exceptional visual design skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
