Job Description

Dandy is seeking a visionary Head of Design to oversee all of our product design efforts across the various external and internal customer base, including practice and patient customers, Dental designers, manufacturing and supply chain operators. This leadership role is perfect for someone with a deep passion for user-centered design, boasting over 12+ years of experience in product design, ideally within fast-paced tech startups. Our ideal candidate obsesses over customer experience and serves as their champion inside the company. The candidate has a track record of managing design functions through the complete product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and through iteration to successful adoption, across both physical and digital touchpoints. The candidate has a strong bias for action and regularly dives into the details to understand nuances and drive to the optimal solution for both customers and the business. 

As a key leader in our organization, you'll manage and mentor designers, collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, operators, senior leaders and dental professionals. You will drive the creation of products that foster engagement and efficiency for both internal and external customers, ensuring they are exceptionally user-friendly and delightful.

What You'll Do

• Lead and expand the design team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration across all design functions.
• Set the overall vision and strategy for the design function within Dandy.
• Strategize and oversee the entire design process, ensuring seamless integration of user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity designs into the product development lifecycle.
• Mentor team members across the product organization, helping them grow their skills and career paths, while maintaining high standards and practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and go-to-market leaders to define product strategy, while influencing company-wide decisions and OKRs
• Drive the evolution of our design system, ensuring it supports efficient and effective design and development processes.
• Balance long-term vision with short-term objectives, making strategic decisions on design priorities and trade-offs.
• Champion user-centered design principles across the organization, advocating for user needs and ensuring the delivery of optimal user experiences.

What We're Looking For

• A seasoned design leader with 12+ years of product design experience, including substantial time leading entire design functions. 
• A portfolio showcasing excellence in UX and visual design, with a strong emphasis on team leadership, user-centric methodologies and a successful track record of leading projects from conception to completion.
• Expertise in prototyping, interaction design, and utilizing design systems, with a preference for those proficient in Figma.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a knack for delivering simple solutions to complex challenges.
• Experience fostering team growth and advocating for design best practices and processes within a collaborative, iterative design environment.
• Strategic and product thinking capabilities, with a focus on understanding the 'why' behind design decisions and product directions.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment, comfortable with juggling multiple roles and responsibilities.

Compensation Range: $200K - $227.5K
