Job Description
Your Mission:
We are hiring a Senior Product Designer with exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. In this role, you will be embedded in the Frontend Platform team, which is responsible for building and maintaining our design system and empowering other product teams to build products better and faster. You will work closely with product designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create reusable design patterns that improve efficiency and consistency across our platform. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring our teams can scale efficiently while maintaining a high standard of user experience.
Key Outcomes:
As a successful candidate, within the first 12 months, you will:
- Champion Design System Best Practices: Proactively review product designs and implementations to ensure alignment with the design system, and advocate for improvements where gaps or inconsistencies are identified.
- Enhance and Evolve the Existing Design System: Continuously improve the design system to address the evolving needs of both designers and developers, ensuring it remains easy to use, flexible, and scalable across all product teams.
- Proactively Understand Team Needs: Actively engage with design, engineering, and product teams to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities where the design system can support their work, improving both workflow and product outcomes.
- Curate and Promote UI Patterns: Regularly review, collect, and document UI patterns from across the product, promoting their usage to drive consistency and elevate product quality.
- Build Strong Cross-functional Relationships: Develop strong partnerships with teams across the organization to advocate for the design system and ensure its adoption. Be a key player for educating and supporting teams on how to leverage the system effectively.
- Drive Product Quality Improvements: Through consistent usage of the design system, be instrumental in raising the quality and coherence of the productโs user interfaces, ensuring a seamless user experience across all platforms.
Your Profile:
- Experience: UI/UX expert focusing on building, maintaining, and evolving design systems for digital products.
- Figma Expertise: Mastery of Figma and a deep understanding of creating reusable, scalable components within this tool.
- Accessibility Expertise: Strong understanding of accessibility standards and best practices (e.g., WCAG), ensuring all design system components are fully accessible and inclusive for all users.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to design, ensuring consistency, precision, and high-quality execution across the design system.
- Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams (design, engineering, product).
- Proactive & Self-driven: A self-starter with a proactive mindset, eager to take ownership of the design system, seek out improvement opportunities, and support team members.
- Empathy: Strong user-centered thinking, with an understanding of both end-user needs and the needs of internal team members. A willingness to help others, particularly in mastering design tools like Figma.
- Adaptability & Problem-solving: Flexible and open to feedback, with a problem-solving attitude. You can adapt the design system as the product and technology landscape evolves.
- Patience & Persistence: A long-term vision for design system development, with the patience to see through incremental improvements and the persistence to maintain high standards despite challenges.
- Frontend Understanding: Familiarity with frontend technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, React) is a plus, but not required. A solid understanding of how design translates to code is essential.
