Job Description

As the Founding Designer at Double, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience and visual identity of our product. You will enjoy ownership of a broad scope of responsibilities supporting product, brand, marketing, fundraising, and more. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of intuitive and engaging user interfaces for our brokerage platform.
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to ensure design consistency and user-centric development.
  • Develop and maintain a coherent visual brand identity across all our digital platforms.

Who you are & what youโ€™ve accomplished:

  • Youโ€™ve led design at an early stage startup or managed 0-1 product launches. Fintech experience is appreciated
  • You've got a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in digital design.
  • You are excited by a blank Figma workspace.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • You are knowledgable about investing and use one or more modern platforms to manage your personal investments.

Location:

  • Double is based in the Bay Area and itโ€™s important to us for our founding team to be colocated. Weโ€™ll work together out of our Financial District office most days of the week.

Double's Founding Designer Interview Process

Step 1: Phone Screen

Objective: For both parties to get to know each other and establish initial compatibility. Duration: Approximately 15 minutes. Focus Areas: Brief introduction, understanding the candidate's interest in Double, and a high-level discussion of their design philosophy and experience.

Step 2: In-Person or Zoom Meeting

Objective: To explore the candidate's portfolio and work experience in greater detail. Duration: Approximately 45 minutes. Participants: Key members of our team, including representatives from the design and product departments. Focus Areas: In-depth review of the candidate's previous design projects, their specific contributions, and insights into their problem-solving and creative processes.

Step 3: Design Project

3.1 Initial Design Project Assignment

Objective: To provide a relevant design task for Double and address any initial queries. Duration: Approximately 45 minutes. Focus Areas: Clear presentation of the project scope, expected outcomes, and a Q&A session with the candidate.

3.2 Initial Review and Feedback Meeting

Objective: To assess the candidateโ€™s initial design solutions and give feedback. Duration: Approximately 45 minutes. Focus Areas: Evaluating adherence to the project brief, creativity, and initial response to design challenges.

3.3 Second Review and Feedback Meeting

Objective: To review the revised design after incorporating feedback. Duration: Approximately 45 minutes. Focus Areas: Assessing the final design submission, understanding the candidate's design rationale, and evaluating their adaptability to feedback.

Compensation for Step 3

Candidates who progress to Step 3 will be compensated at $50/hour as independent contractors, for a maximum of 10 hours.
