Responsibilities
- Establish demonstrated build times for 100% of produced assemblies at the Frisco manufacturing facility.
- Observe and time the builds of every unique assembly produced in Frisco.
- Record times part number by part number and load them into manufacturing systems.
- Move between work centers, track one of each individual assembly, and time hands-on technician labor.
- Maintain a spreadsheet to record all times.
- Observe the βcradle to graveβ process of a manufacturing order and offer suggestions for improvements in material flow and order tracking.
Project Goals & Deliverables
- Measure hands-on labor time of every unique build assembly at the Frisco facility.
- Record these times into systems for Production Planning capacity decisions.
Project Impact on the Business
- Provide a baseline by recording demonstrated build times manually for capacity decision-making tools and MES development.
- Allow Production Planning to make accurate decisions regarding capacity, labor scheduling, and loading new demand.
Career Support
- Gain context on manufacturing complex airborne vehicles from sub-assemblies to final assembly.
- Experience contributing to the development of advanced manufacturing systems by recording, maintaining, and loading build times.
Project Deliverables
- Spreadsheet with at least one recorded build time for every assembly produced at Shield AI.
- Times must be loaded into Shield AIβs ERP system.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student expected to graduate in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
- General or rough understanding of manufacturing basics.
- Average or above skill level with Microsoft Excel.
- Good communication skills to interface with supervisors and technicians.
- Attention to detail is required.
KPIs & Milestones
- Weekly measurement of completion percentage of assemblies listed and times loaded into ERP.
- Both percentages must reach 100% completion by the end of the project.
