Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a world-class engineering organization in India from the ground up.
  • Shape the overall direction of engineering teams and encourage innovation.
  • Serve as a primary technical mentor and advisor, establish engineering best practices.
  • Foster Alpaca culture and adapt practices to local market and regulatory needs.
  • Lead recruitment initiatives to build a diverse engineering organization.
  • Drive strategic technical leadership and oversee scalable, reliable technical projects.
  • Act as liaison between engineering teams and executive leadership for communication and alignment.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and local regulators ensuring compliance.
  • Design and architect financial systems for the Indian market, including backend solutions.
  • Ensure operational reliability, incident management, and vendor relationship management.
  • Collaborate globally and lead cross-functional projects across regions.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with large-scale financial systems.
  • Industry-recognized engineering leader with strategic vision and technical depth.
  • Expertise in Go or similar backend languages and system architecture.
  • Strong understanding of financial transaction processing, accounting, and compliance.
  • Proven leadership skills building and guiding engineering organizations.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to function as incident commander.
  • Domain expertise with financial APIs, regulatory compliance, and software development lifecycle.
  • Infrastructure management experience with cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn the Indian financial market and regulatory landscape.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in Indian financial services and GIFT City operations.
  • Knowledge of IFSCA regulations and similar frameworks.
  • Experience in managing vendors, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and the Indian fintech ecosystem.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms, infrastructure management, or Kubernetes.
