Your role at a glance

The Principal Electrical expert is a key member of the NTT Global Design Standards team, working on and delivering translation of the NTT GID Design ’Product’ defined Owner Project Requirements (OPR) into the Global Reference Design (GRD. They provide regional understanding of the GRD and its engineering details as it is required to be localizedand deployed through third party Architects and Engineers(A/Es. They will support project design reviews at all stages of project design and delivery on an as required basis.

They will interface with internal stakeholders from parallel business functions,the NTT Product team, regional design delivery teams,and design managers. They will consult with members of our Engineer, Expansion, Construction, Operations, Product,and Sales teams to ensure optimal design decisions are made with careful assessment of risksand opportunities.

They will work closely with the Technical Director of Global Design Standards to drive effectiveness, efficiency, innovation, speed to market,and predictability at scale in the development and adoption of best practices design process and procedures. They will support in the management of the Global Design Standards team advising on workload, prioritization,and development areas.

KEY responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex electrical engineering projects, from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and entry-level electrical engineers.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvementand innovation in electrical systems for data center infrastructure.

• Contribute to the development and optimization of electrical systemsand upgrades.

• Stay informed about emerging trendsand best practices in electrical engineeringand apply them to enhance our operations.

• Participate in Vendor engagement to determine technical innovationand market evolution opportunities to lead design development within the electrical engineering discipline

• Prepare and present technical reportsand updates to senior management.

• Primary electrical reviewer of project design documents.

• Provide expert guidance on the performance of engineering calculationsand studies.

Knowledge & Attributes

• In-depth expertise in Electrical Engineering includes: MV and LV Power, Lighting, Grounding, Lightning Protection, Routing (above and below grade), Fire Alarm,and Mission Critical design and analysis.
• In-depth expertise in Electrical Systems including: MV Switchgear, MV Transformers, LV Generators, LV Switchgear / Switchboards / Panelboards, ATS, STS, UPSand power redundancy design(distributed vs. block, N,5N/4,2N, etc.), PDU, RPP, Busway, Relay / Breaker settingsand coordination.
• Advanced proficiency in Computer Aided Design(CAD), Building Information Modeling(BIM,and engineering calculation(SKM/ETAP/AMPCALC/Lighting) software for complex designs.
• Strong ability to optimize and fine-tune engineering systems for maximum efficiency.
• High level of competenceand familiarity with energy calculations.
• Adept and practiced at Neher-McGrath, Photometric, Power System Load, Load Balance, Voltage Drop,and Short Circuit / Arc Flash calculations including the ability to analyze results presented from reports / drawingsand provide analysis as well as recognize deficiencies / errorsand provide direction.
• Highly developed understanding of Cx processesand test scripts.
• Proficient in creation and analysis of Electrical Engineering Specifications, as well as review of equipment submitted to meet specifications.
• Comprehensive understanding of data center infrastructureand its integration with engineering systems.
• Operating engineering experience with large electrical systems including BMS trending, off-normal operation,and transient analysis.
• Excellent verbaland written communication skills.

• Leadershipand mentorship skills for guiding other engineers internaland external.

• Proficient in managing personaland professional commitments while working with teams in different time zones.

Academic Qualifications & Certifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline(required)
• Licensed Professional Engineer(preferred)
• Membership of a professional institution recognized as relevant to the data center sector(preferred)

Required Experience

• 10 or more years of industry experience with minimum 5 years specifically in data centers.
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary design teams, preferably in a leading role.
• Experience as design consultant / client engineer / operations engineer / contractor engineering
• International experienceand outlook both in type of companyand project experience.
• Ideally has experience with hyperscale customers.

Physical Requirements

• Primarily sitting with some walking, standing,and bending.
• Able to hearand speak into a telephone.
• Close visual work on a computer.
• Dexterity of handsand fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse,and other technical instruments.
• Ability to liftand carry up to20 lbs.
• Ability to climb laddersand worked on raised platforms.

Work Conditions & Other Requirements

• Office environmentwith extensive daily usage of a computer
• Field work in mechanicaland electrical infrastructure rooms, data floor spaces, outdoorand roof mounted equipment.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environmentwith shifting priorities.
• This position is expected to work primarily remotely.
• Travel requires up to20% of the time. Some international travel is likely.
• Must be willing to work to support a global business which may require an occasional meeting outside of typical regional business hours.
• Must possess a current, valid state issued driver’s license.

Compensation Pay Range

For roles residing in the US, we share payand benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive payand benefit levels during the interview process.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connectionand electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotelyand use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education,and location. Base salary for this position is:

$160,000 - $235,000

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individualand company performance.
