Job Description
At Sketch, we help designers and their collaborators โ from solo makers, to large-scale organisations โ to create amazing things. Weโve been in business for over ten years and weโre far from finished.
Weโre looking for someone gets excited about growing online communities to join us and take our new community forum to the next level.
What youโll do
Working within our marketing team, youโll take ownership of our newly minted community forum and grow it into an amazing place to discuss all things Sketch and design. Youโll be responsible for all parts of this โ from hands-on moderation and content creation, to high-level strategy and reporting. Weโre excited about the potential our forum has to nurture meaningful conversations that bring our community closer to what we do, and to each other. Youโll be there to make everyone involved feel valued and have a positive experience.
In a typical week you will
Play an active role within the forum โ responding to posts, joining conversations and sparking new discussions.
Handle day-to-day moderation, from approving first posts for new forum members, to applying our community guidelines and escalating any issues.
Work closely with our content and social teams to create a regular cadence of new content within the forum, based on updates to our product and trends within the design industry.
Work alongside our web team, who handle the forumโs technical upkeep, to introduce fixes, improvements and new features.
Understand our latest product updates, liaising with our product teams to introduce new and experimental features to forum members, and solicit feedback.
Continually reviewing and updating our community guidelines, making sure they remain relevant and effective at growing a healthy forum community.
Measuring the growth and health of the forum, deciding on goals and objectives for the future and regularly reporting on these to the marketing team.
Summarising insights and conversations and sharing them with the rest of the company.
Reaching out to Discourse to raise and resolve any issues we might face.
Managing the community email inbox, fielding any requests.
At peak times, assisting our social media team with community management on our social channels.
Contribute to wider marketing team discussions with your own ideas and play your part in key initiatives and campaigns.
Who you are
Youโre self-motivated, intuitive and proactive when it comes to building and nurturing online communities. Youโll have plenty of experience managing community forums like ours and youโll care about making them welcoming and positive spaces. Youโre not afraid to get hands-on and make things happen, nor plan ahead or report on results.
We have a self-management philosophy at Sketch, which means youโll need to feel comfortable with setting your own goals and managing your own day-to-day work. Rather than being accountable to a single manager, youโre accountable to the marketing team (as we all are to each other).
We work remotely and asynchronously, so youโll need to have an excellent grasp of written English, clear communication skills, and be comfortable working in this type of environment.
