Job Description

We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.

We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.

Notion is an in person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).

About the Role:

Imagine a product that's reached millions of users through word of mouth. That same product has been adopted by tens of thousands of teams, with limitless growth potential ahead. Now it's time to turn up the dial on this growth by helping more people discover Notion and the value it can provide. We're looking for someone to lead this effort with SEO.

About Us:

As Notionโ€™s SEO Lead, you will be responsible for leading our search engine optimization strategy and driving awareness and adoption across our use cases. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and lead a team of SEO content specialists to drive organic growth and improve our website's visibility in search engines. You will have a strong understanding of SEO best practices, technical SEO, content strategy, and link building. You will be a critical thinker and have the ability to analyze data and metrics to make informed decisions.

Why this Role?

  1. Build the SEO function from the ground up: This person will have the opportunity to build a world-class SEO program from 0 to 1 to 100 with the ability to scale in a massive way.
  2. A huge opportunity with SEO: Notion is a product with many use-cases making the landscape to build this function vast with a high ceiling.
  3. Join us at a magical time: We've hit profitability and millions of users with an extremely small team, which gives us a huge green field to work with.
  4. Work with a world-class team: We've been able to achieve the scale of teams 10x our size because we all love to solve thorny problems and focus on craft.

Skills You'll Need to Bring

  • You have built a SEO function from the ground up at a high-growth company, ideally PLG.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in SEO.
  • You are capable of individually running the entire SEO function, and are excited to do so until the workload justifies growing the team.
  • You have very strong analytical abilities. You are able to use complex SQL, Excel, and other tools with ease to analyze large data sets and generate thoughtful, actionable reports.
  • You have experience working cross-functionally with internal or external teams to optimize marketing assets and landing pages.
  • Expertise in technical SEO, content strategy, and link building.
  • Experience with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Moz.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with both SaaS and B2B marketing.
  • Experience building in a product-led growth company.
  • Experience building and managing a team.
  • Experience with international SEO and multi-language websites.
  • Experience with mobile optimization and app store optimization.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If youโ€™re excited about a role but your past experience doesnโ€™t align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If youโ€™re a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
