Responsibilities
- Become a recognised expert in Matomo’s capabilities, extensibility, and enterprise use cases.
- Own and clearly prioritise the backlog for your product areas: the main Matomo platform, ensuring alignment with roadmap and business goals.
- Translate high-level ideas into detailed, technically sound product specifications—including user flows, straw-man wireframes, and clear acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate closely and daily with developers to assess implementation options, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure iterative delivery.
- Engage regularly with our open-source community and internal customer support to gather feedback and qualify feature requests.
- Participate actively in structured customer interviews and user-focused groups to ensure strong user validation of proposed solutions.
- Break complex product goals into Quarterly Milestones and clearly scoped, sprint-ready issues.
- Partner with UX engineers or external UX consultants to refine designs, ensuring solutions are intuitive, practical, and within budget/time constraints.
- Support Marketing in release planning and product launches.
- Continuously improve product management practices—particularly backlog hygiene, prioritisation, lean documentation, and specification clarity.
Requirements
- 4–6+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar technical product-facing role, ideally in a B2B SaaS or enterprise environment.
- Strong technical background with demonstrated experience in web analytics, tracking technologies, APIs, or similar web/data-centric products.
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams, refining stories, managing technical trade-offs, and delivering iterative solutions within complex codebases.
- Comfortable creating initial UX wireframes/user flows, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with UX/UI professionals.
- Solid experience with agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and comfortable working asynchronously across multiple time zones.
- Located in or able to consistently overlap with Central European Time (CET).
- Available for short periodic European business travel, every one or two months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational background in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or other numerate/technical discipline.
- Prior experience engaging actively with developer communities.
- Familiarity with GDPR, ePrivacy, or digital compliance challenges relevant to EU-based businesses.
