Responsibilities

  • Become a recognised expert in Matomo’s capabilities, extensibility, and enterprise use cases.
  • Own and clearly prioritise the backlog for your product areas: the main Matomo platform, ensuring alignment with roadmap and business goals.
  • Translate high-level ideas into detailed, technically sound product specifications—including user flows, straw-man wireframes, and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate closely and daily with developers to assess implementation options, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure iterative delivery.
  • Engage regularly with our open-source community and internal customer support to gather feedback and qualify feature requests.
  • Participate actively in structured customer interviews and user-focused groups to ensure strong user validation of proposed solutions.
  • Break complex product goals into Quarterly Milestones and clearly scoped, sprint-ready issues.
  • Partner with UX engineers or external UX consultants to refine designs, ensuring solutions are intuitive, practical, and within budget/time constraints.
  • Support Marketing in release planning and product launches.
  • Continuously improve product management practices—particularly backlog hygiene, prioritisation, lean documentation, and specification clarity.

Requirements

  • 4–6+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar technical product-facing role, ideally in a B2B SaaS or enterprise environment.
  • Strong technical background with demonstrated experience in web analytics, tracking technologies, APIs, or similar web/data-centric products.
  • Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams, refining stories, managing technical trade-offs, and delivering iterative solutions within complex codebases.
  • Comfortable creating initial UX wireframes/user flows, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with UX/UI professionals.
  • Solid experience with agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and comfortable working asynchronously across multiple time zones.
  • Located in or able to consistently overlap with Central European Time (CET).
  • Available for short periodic European business travel, every one or two months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational background in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or other numerate/technical discipline.
