Responsibilities
- Drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for client connectivity at Spotify, ensuring alignment with engineering needs and company goals.
- Understand developer experience and engineer challenges with client-to-backend communication to guide platform improvements.
- Define and analyze metrics measuring connectivity performance such as reliability, latency, power consumption, and cost, using data to inform decisions.
- Collaborate with Connectivity team engineers, engineering manager, and partners in backend traffic and client-facing studios.
- Serve as a developer evangelist for the connectivity platform, promoting its benefits and guiding best practices.
- Stay updated on mobile networking trends, modern transport protocols, and real-time messaging to drive platform evolution and innovation.
Requirements
- Strong technical background comfortable with complex client-server systems and networking protocols.
- Passion for building outstanding developer experiences and understanding of internal platform excellence.
- Experience with client networking fundamentals (HTTP/2+, gRPC, TLS, caching, retries), Pub/Sub messaging systems, and performance strategies for mobile environments.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate vision and complex ideas to diverse audiences including engineers and leadership.
- Experience with developers as primary users is a major plus.
Location and Work Mode
- Role based in London, UK or Stockholm, Sweden.
- Hybrid work mode with flexibility to work from home and some in-person meetings.
