About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Director of Product to lead our Financial Incentives team. This role will report to the Head of Product. Your team owns the financial layer that drives world-class engagement amongst Garner members and steers them to top-performing providers by making Garner the most convenient and affordable way to pay for healthcare.You will lead 3-4 teams responsible for the member-facing incentive experience, our portfolio of payment mechanisms (card, HRA, HSA contributions, direct provider payment, and emerging alternatives), employer-facing plan design and coverage policies, and the core platform that adjudicates claims, moves money, and reports on it. Today, Garner reimburses $100M+/yr and growing in patient bills annually: you will be responsible for making that experience delightful for members, trusted by employers, and resilient at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy and roadmap for Garnerβs Financial Incentives portfolio, spanning the member incentive experience, the suite of payment mechanisms (card, HRA, HSA, direct provider payment), employer-facing plan design and coverage policies, and the underlying claims adjudication, payments, and ledger platform.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing product management team (4 PMs and growing) and develop the next generation of PM leaders at Garner.
- Act as Garnerβs internal and external-facing executive-level subject matter expert on financial incentives, payment mechanics, and the operational systems that move money reliably at scale.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Clinical, and GTM teams to ship trusted, mission-critical products.
- Define the metrics that matter and rally the organization around them.
- Make sharp prioritization decisions across a portfolio with high regulatory complexity, high customer expectations, and significant 0-to-1 product surface area still to build.
Ideal Candidate
- 8+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years managing and developing product managers.
- Demonstrated experience building and shipping financial products at scale β payments, ledgers, card programs, consumer financial experiences, or other money-movement systems.
- Deep expertise in at least one of payment infrastructure (rails, settlement, reconciliation, ledger) or consumer financial products (card, rewards, reimbursement, HSA/HRA-like instruments) at scale.
- Track record of leading both 0-to-1 product development and the scale-up of production systems, comfortable building net-new platforms and improving systems already moving real money.
- Strong technical fluencyβcan credibly engage engineering on system design, data models, APIs, and reliability tradeoffs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to drive alignment with executives, internal teams, and external partners.
