The Role

We’re looking for a Product Manager who combines a strong understanding of scientific research workflows with a builder’s mindset and the ability to translate user needs into meaningful product solutions.

You will identify challenges researchers face throughout the research and publication process and translate those insights into useful product features and workflow improvements. Operating with high autonomy, you will combine domain expertise, product intuition, and modern AI tools (such as Claude) to automate workflows, build specifications, and ship impactful solutions that accelerate scientific discovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve JoVE’s products by understanding researchers’ needs, challenges, and workflows across the research and publication lifecycle.
  • Apply knowledge of scientific research, literature discovery, journal submission, peer review, and academic publishing to identify practical solutions that address real user needs.
  • Conduct user research to understand their challenges, validate assumptions, gather feedback, and identify high-impact product opportunities.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude and other AI-assisted development tools to draft product specifications, explore solutions, prototype ideas, and automate workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate user needs, business opportunities, and technical considerations to prioritize product improvements and support informed product decisions.
  • Define relevant success metrics, analyze product usage and user feedback, and use insights to evaluate feature effectiveness and guide future improvements.
  • Clearly communicate product vision, priorities, and trade-offs across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on ownership, speed, accountability, and high standards.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline or 2–5 years of Product Management experience building products in scientific publishing, scientific SaaS, BioPharma software, Life Sciences technology, HealthTech, or highly technical EdTech
  • Strong understanding of scientific research workflows, researcher needs, scientific literature, journal submission, peer review, or academic publishing is highly desirable.
  • Strong user-centric mindset with experience conducting user research, gathering feedback, and translating insights into product decisions
  • Builder mentality with the ability to create prototypes, validate ideas quickly, and leverage AI-assisted or no-code tools independently
  • A proactive, curious mindset, a willingness to learn Product Management where needed, and the ability to take ownership and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits

  • A competitive compensation package.
  • We’re fully remote!
  • You will make a direct impact in accelerating science research and education.
  • Opportunity to work with global teams and in an environment that promotes innovation and collaboration.
  • Our strong promotion from within culture draws a clear path to advance your career with us.
