What you’ll do

You're about to hop on board with Make Labs, an early-stage startup nested in a big-league company, on a super cool mission to shake up the no-code universe all over again. You'll join a squad of brilliant folks, driving the visual design, pitching in on the big picture of the product, and crafting the kind of experience that'll have our customers grinning from ear to ear. You're gonna roll up your sleeves, jump in, and have a blast turning wild ideas into reality.

Why design matters

We believe that design creates value for customers–powerful features are only great when they come to life through how the product makes people feel. We are looking for a Senior Visual Designer to join our team and take the experience to the next level. In this role, you’ll be working closely with product management and front-end engineering teams to build out innovative new solutions. These solutions will be the future of Make, rooted in the core values of today’s Make.

Our ideal candidate lives and breathes the intersection of aesthetics, experience, and possibility as it relates to building amazing products. This role is an opportunity to significantly impact the future of Make. It’s a role for someone who sees every pixel, but also craves knowing the why and how it matters to customers.

What we are looking for

  • A visual designer who believes that working in diverse teams and complex problem spaces brings out even more creativity
  • A genuine interest in understanding how developers think and translating that to broader audiences through the experience
  • Hands-on experience with developing visual systems and patterns that are coherent to the company brand and style
  • Proficient in applying motion and animation design to the experience
  • Ability to articulate a design rationale and goals to different levels of stakeholders
  • Can apply UX/UI principles in service of a delightful but usable solution
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS and experience working with front-end and back-end teams
  • Detail oriented and can think expansively about variations and constraints (e.g. mobile, accessibility, dark mode)
  • Ability to give & receive constructive feedback in design reviews
  • Portfolio of prior design work, with examples of shipped products including specific contributions in the design directions and decisions
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in visual design for products
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
