We are looking for a Technical UI Designer to work closely with UX Designers, UI Artists, and UI Engineers to implement UI systemsand features for our AAA development partner.
This role sits between design and engineering. You will take UI and UX conceptsand help turn them into scalable, responsive, performant systemsin Unreal Engine. You should understand how UI dataand presentation are separated, be comfortable working with MVVMand ViewModels,and have enough C++ knowledge to understand the systemsyou are working with and communicate effectively with engineers.
This is not a UI Engineer position,and deep C++ programming expertise is not required. However, candidates must understand C++ data typesand technical programming conceptswell enough to work effectively within an engineering-driven UI architecture.
In this role, you will
- Break featuresand wireframesinto clear, scoped implementation tasks, identifying unknownsand dependencies early.
Build and maintain UI in Unreal Engineusing UMGand Widget Blueprints.
Create appropriate UI logic using Blueprint scripting.
Architect reusable component systemsthat remain flexible as designsand requirementsevolve.
Implement data-driven UI using ViewModels, view bindings,and MVVM principlesin collaboration with UI Engineering.
Work within established C++-driven UI systemsand understand how data moves between game systemsand presentation.
Build UI that accounts for different screen sizes, safe areas, localization, accessibility, responsive scaling,and dynamic content
Design strong controller-first navigation while supporting multiple input methodsand platforms
Profile UI performanceand understand the runtimeand memory costsassociated with UMG, Slate, C++, textures,and other UI systems
Diagnoseand investigate UI hitchesand work with Engineering when deeper technical investigation is required
Collaborate closely with UX, UI Art, Engineering,and Production throughout feature development
Improve workflows, pipelines, documentation,and implementation practicesas the teamand UI systemsevolve
Above all, you advocate for the player experience while understandingthe technical constraintsrequired to deliver it
What weβre looking for
Professional experience implementing UI in Unreal Engineand UMG
A strong understanding of MVVM, ViewModels, data binding,and the separation of data from presentation, or closely comparable architectural patterns
Working knowledge of C++ fundamentalsand data typessufficient to understandand collaborate within C++-based UI systems
Strong technical UI implementation skillsand an understanding of UI architectureand component-based design
Strong knowledge of UIand UX fundamentals, including layout, composition, hierarchy, interaction patterns, responsive behavior,and state management
The ability to anticipate edge casesincluding localization, text overflow, dynamic content, scaling, changing data,and different input methods
Experience designing UI for controller navigationas well as other input methods
Experience considering performanceand runtime cost during UI implementation
Strong cross-functional communication skillsand experience working closely with Design, Art, Engineering,and Production
Professional Unreal Engine experience. We are not looking for candidateswho would need to learn Unreal Engineon the job
Experience shipping UI on PC is highly relevant,and experience across consoleand/or mobile platforms is valuable. Mobile experience is particularly useful because of the additional considerationsaround touch input, responsive layouts, performance,and platform-specific behavior

Figma experience is useful but is not a substitute for Unreal implementation experience in this role.
