Job Description
Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics to understand user behaviors and pain points. Translate insights into personas, user journeys, and design recommendations. Collaborate with product managers and engineers to align design work with user needs and business goals. Ability to execute and follow brand standards and guidelines. Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity interactive prototypes. Design intuitive conversational user experiences for chatbots and virtual assistants, leveraging principles of conversational design, user intent modeling, and natural language flows. Maintain and evolve our design systems and UI component libraries. Ensure all designs are accessible, responsive, aligned with modern UX/UI standards, and technically feasible for implementation within engineering constraints. Ensure visual design, messaging, and user experience consistently reflect organizational brand values and ministry mission across all platforms. Work closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs and provide support during development. Participate in sprint planning and reviews, contributing to the continuous improvement of design-development workflows. Iterate on designs based on team feedback, testing, and performance data. Establish regular design review processes that include key stakeholders, such as executive leadership and the marketing team. Champion the voice of the user across all projects, balancing usability, performance, and visual excellence. Monitor user engagement and identify opportunities to improve key workflows and interfaces. Advocate for design best practices and accessibility standards across the organization. Serve as primary liaison between technology and marketing teams for all brand-related design decisions. Collaborate with the marketing team on branded design requirements, ensuring seamless integration and consistency. Participate in brand strategy discussions and translate brand positioning into digital experience principles.Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree (or equivalent experience) in UX design, interaction design, human-computer interaction, psychology, graphic design, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, preferably in a technology or nonprofit environment
- Strong portfolio showcasing design deliverables such as research artifacts, personas, wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, and design system components
- Proficiency in industry tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, or similar
- Excellent understanding of UX/UI principles, including typography, color theory, responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), design thinking, and usability heuristics
- Ability to clearly communicate design rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working within agile teams and collaborating closely with product managers and developers
- Brand management and design system governance experience with demonstrated ability to maintain consistency across multiple channels and teams
- Cross-functional leadership skills with experience managing stakeholder relationships between technical and marketing teams
- Strategic thinking abilities to align design decisions with broader marketing and ministry objectives
Bonus Skills
- Experience in a faith-based or non-profit organization
- Understanding of UX principles and the ability to collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure technical projects align with human-centered design
- Membership in a recognized UX/UI professional organization (e.g. UXPA, IxDA, or IxDF) is highly desirable
- Experience with change management processes and methodologies to effectively guide teams through transitions and new implementations
- Certification in Agile or Scrum methodologies (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, PMI-ACP) to demonstrate expertise in agile project management practices
