The opportunity

Make multi-product, cohesive experiences for homeowners. The Principal Product Designer role is essential for building a trusted platform that feels like one product, not just a collection of handoffs.
In the past six months, Kin launched multiple insurance products, demanding a unified design experience. The role focuses on owning the design system, improving usability, and ensuring products are user-friendly.

Your responsibilities

  • Audit existing component libraries using AI tools to identify gaps.
  • Own and drive Kin's token architecture for design consistency.
  • Establish and maintain Figma-to-code parity.
  • Define the contribution model and maintain proper governance.
  • Advocate for accessibility in components.

Success in this role

Success is defined by the impact created in terms of design consistency and influence across teams. Expect to improve Kin’s operational effectiveness and satisfaction for both Kinfolk and customers.
By the end of the first year, outcomes should demonstrate a coherent design system and consistent experience across product surfaces.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience with design systems, taking them from audit to adoption.
  • Fluency in token architecture and Figma.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools for design efficiency.
  • Skilled at influencing without authority.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and building out new structures.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience in fintech or regulated product domains.
  • Familiarity with the design-to-code toolchain.
