1 open role

Hello!

Innersloth is a small remote team scattered mostly in North America. We released Among Us in 2018 and are now working on a new game. We are looking to expand our creative team with a full-time, contracted, UI/UX Designer.

Your focus will be on UI/UX Design: creating and maintaining UI/UX documentation, style guides, flows, wireframes, prototypes, mock-ups, and ready-to-implement designs. Your role will be very iterative, proactively developing solutions to address usability feedback from both playtesters and the development team.

You’ll report to the project’s Game Directors, take direction from the Game Designer, and work alongside the art team. We don’t want to overscope this, but because we are a small team, sometimes responsibilities overlap - a willingness to learn and help is essential. You will not be working alone, and our team prioritizes providing support and ensuring you are thriving in your role.

Please note this is not an entry-level position, but we’ll consider strong candidates with general experience working in games, UI/UX development, and/or visual design that accounts for the required skillset. Please absolutely include these things in your application!

What we’re looking for

Proactivity, independence, and accountability are extremely important for this position. If you show an aptitude for working well with others, handling conflict, and understanding UI/UX design for games, we want to hear from you!

We’re aiming for a January 11th, 2027 start date.

The following points outline the knowledge, skills and abilities that we strongly prefer. None of these are strict dealbreakers, but reflect the type of experience we feel would lead to finding the right candidate for this position.

Our expectations:

  • You have a degree/diploma/certificate in Human-Computer Interaction, Game Design, Graphic Design, Information Science, or a related field. (Equivalent experience is highly valued)
  • You have at least 3 years of prior experience as a UI/UX Designer for games (mobile, PC and/or console) with a strong portfolio that clearly communicates your skill and approach
  • You understand and apply best practices for UX flow and accessibility
  • You pay strong attention to detail and have a keen eye for aesthetics
  • You are proficient in industry standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, and Figma
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills and can clearly articulate your ideas, designs, and suggestions
  • You are comfortable giving and receiving feedback, and can rapidly iterate based on playtest and team feedback
  • Can collaborate and work well in a team-based, dynamic, cross-functional setting
  • You are a highly organized, self-sufficient person who is task-oriented

Nice to have:

  • Experience working within Unity and the Unity UI Toolkit
  • Experience using version control tools (e.g. Git)
  • Experience designing UI/UX for mobile games
  • Experience designing responsive interfaces that accommodate localized text
  • Experience/understanding on running user testing initiatives
  • An understanding of general console certification requirements as they pertain to UI

What you’ll be doing:

  • Create original UI/UX designs that exhibit a strong understanding of layout, composition, iconography, typography, and accessibility, while aligning with the art direction and gameplay goals
  • Create and maintain UI/UX documentation, style guides, flows, wireframes, prototypes, mock-ups, and ready-to-implement designs
  • Design UI elements such as menu interfaces, HUD, input controls, navigational components, informational components, and dialogue boxes
  • Design UI/UX that is responsive across multiple platforms, aspect ratios, and screen orientations
  • Report to the game directors while working closely with the game designer, artists, and engineers to help bring the game interfaces to life
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX challenges and opportunities based on playtesting and team feedback
  • Demonstrate ownership and autonomy while delivering project priorities on time
  • Communication requirements include:
    • Responsive and proactive usage of ClickUp and Microsoft Teams
    • Attend and contribute to scheduled meetings when required

Our offer

  • A guaranteed 6 month, full-time, remote, work from home position.
    • While this original contract is set for 6 months, we’re open to discussing an extension should the need be proven and required for project completion.
    • Your work week cannot exceed 40 hours/week and must include and relate to Innersloth’s Monday to Friday working schedule. Our company core hours are 10 AM to 2 PM PST. You would be expected to be online during this time but how you make up the rest of your day is up to you.
    • You will be responsible to ensure you can perform your job effectively and efficiently.
    • Due to the length of this contract, we are unable to offer health benefits to anyone outside of the United States of America. If our perfect candidate lives internationally, we will offer a fair salary in lieu of benefits.
  • A competitive, fixed, monthly rate of payment.
  • A guarantee that your position is safe and stable for the duration of this project - regardless of what’s happening around us, we have a very healthy financial runway.
  • A collection of friendly, diverse workmates and partner companies.

Faq

  • What’s the level of experience necessary?
    • There’s no hard requirement (3+ years is suggested), but ideally you have an applied understanding of UI/UX design workflows.
  • What’s the immediate team like?
    • You will be joining an established team of 6 people, with three department leads, game designer, programmer, and artists working on the unannounced title.
    • You’ll be managed by the game directors. You will communicate and collaborate with the rest of the team often.
