Most compliance software asks you to fill in the form. Vanta is building software that fills the form in for you, then asks a human to check its work. That second half, the checking, is the hard design problem of 2026, and at Vanta it is now an actual job title.
On September 19, 2026, Vanta posted a Senior Product Designer, Agent Experience role on Woody. Remote, US-based, top salary band, above $200k. The team owns what Vanta calls the agent harness: the agents, the skills, tools and memory they draw on, and every pattern that helps a customer understand, guide, review, correct and trust what an agent just produced. If you have wondered what "designing for AI" means once the demo is over, this is about as concrete an answer as the job market offers.
What Vanta actually does
Vanta automates security and compliance. It connects to a company's cloud infrastructure, identity providers, HR systems and security tools, then continuously checks whether the company still does what its SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA program says it does. The plumbing is called the Trust Graph, and Vanta puts it at 400+ integrations and 1,400+ continuous tests.
The scale is not small. More than 16,000 companies use it, including Snowflake, GitHub, Ramp and Cursor. Vanta raised a $150M Series D in July 2025 at a $4.15B valuation, led by Wellington Management, taking total funding to roughly $504M. Headcount sits around 1,635 people as of March 2026.
What makes 2026 the interesting year is the pivot from automation to agents. Vanta introduced its Agentic Trust Platform in November 2025, shipped dedicated agents for compliance, third-party risk and customer trust in March 2026, then launched the Agent for Risk in June. In late August it published 65 open-source Agentic Trust Controls, 43 for teams building agents and 22 for teams deploying someone else's, mapped to ISO 27001 and ISO 42001. Forrester named Vanta a Leader in its GRC Platforms Wave for Q2 2026.
Read that sequence as a designer and the work comes into focus. Vanta is not adding a chat box to a dashboard. It is moving a category of work from humans to agents, and the surface that decides whether anyone accepts that move is the review layer.

What you would actually design
Vanta's engineering leadership has been unusually explicit about the principles behind the agent work: the user calls the shots, the agent does the work, the human signs it off. Agents verify agents. Rollback is a reflex, not an emergency. The customer data door stays shut.
Those four lines are a design brief. A compliance lead will not let a model close a control finding because the output looked confident. They need to see what the agent did, on what evidence, where it was unsure, and how to undo it. The role asks you to define how agents, skills, tools and memory are composed and surfaced, and to design delegation that keeps visibility with the human. The posting adds that the patterns you set will spread across Vanta's product teams, a real scope claim for an IC role.
What Woody's own data says about the design org
This is where our listing history beats a careers page, because it shows the team's shape over time rather than a snapshot. Vanta has posted 43 roles on Woody since 2024, and the design roles line up into a clear arc.
Mid-2024 the hiring was structural: a Director of Product Design, Trust, then a Senior Product Designer for Design Systems. December 2025 brought a Senior Design Operations Manager, the role you hire when a design team outgrows informal coordination. January 2026, a Senior Web Designer, Brand. March 2026, a Senior Product Designer, CTM, for continuous trust management, the automation-era product. Six months later, the Agent Experience role. Foundations first, then agents.
Two more things stand out. Every Vanta design role we have listed since 2024 is remote, posted for the United States or for "Anywhere". Not hybrid, not "remote-friendly with quarterly onsites" buried in the fine print. And Vanta hires designers beyond product: brand, web and design operations all show up. The most recent non-design opening on Woody, a remote Product Marketing Lead for EMEA open to the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, suggests the international hiring is real rather than a Dublin office line on a website.
Salaries, and how to read them
From Woody's listings, the bands Vanta posts for senior design roles cluster at $150k to $200k, with leadership and the newest agent roles above $200k. The September 2026 Agent Experience role is banded above $200k. The March 2026 CTM role, same Senior Product Designer title, was banded $150k to $200k. One signal that agent work is staffed at a premium, though levelling can differ behind identical titles.
Public self-reported data reads lower. Levels.fyi puts Vanta Product Designer total compensation in the US at a $133,650 median, ranging to about $190k, last updated March 2026. The gap is mostly what each number measures. Posted ranges are what a company will pay for an open role today, while Levels.fyi aggregates across levels and start dates, including people hired years ago at earlier bands. If you are negotiating, the posted band is the better anchor.
Culture and hiring process
Vanta is remote-first in the US and hybrid internationally, with offices in San Francisco, New York, London, Dublin and Sydney. Its stated principles are put customers first, bias for action, lead with resilience, decide with frameworks, and do what it says on the tin. The written-decisions habit shows up repeatedly in employee accounts, unsurprising from a company that sells auditability.
The design hiring process, per candidate reports on Glassdoor, runs roughly three to six weeks: recruiter call, hiring manager conversation, a portfolio review where you walk one shipped project from first idea through launch and measured impact, a 60-minute collaborative exercise on a non-Vanta problem solved alongside Vanta designers, then cross-functional conversations. No multi-day take-home, which is a small mercy.
Two things to prepare. Bring a project where you can say what changed after launch, in numbers. And have a real opinion about how a person decides to trust a machine's output. Vanta's whole bet is that trust is designable.
