Here is the signal that tells you what the Latin American design market really looks like. We reviewed 22 live Woody listings that mention Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina or South America. Twenty-one are fully remote. Only one, a Platzi role split between Mexico City and Bogota, is hybrid.
So the honest headline is this. Latin America is less a place where local companies hire hundreds of designers onsite, and more a time zone and a talent pool that companies in the US and Europe are actively recruiting from. If you are a product designer based in SΓ£o Paulo, Bogota or Mexico City, that changes how you should search.
Where the jobs are
Three hubs matter: SΓ£o Paulo for Brazil, Mexico City, and Bogota. The common thread is fintech. A January 2026 analysis from Bloomberg LΓnea, summarised by Crowdfund Insider, says Latin American fintech has grown more than 340 percent since 2017 and now counts over 3,000 entities, with fintech expected to capture most of the venture capital revival forecast for 2026. Mexico's Kapital raised $100 million at a $1.3 billion valuation in 2025, according to the same piece.
That matches what we see on Woody. The strongest local employers in our data are fintechs and platforms (RecargaPay in Brazil, Addi in Colombia, Platzi in education), while the biggest source of remote roles is foreign companies that hire anywhere in the region.
One caveat on method. Woody's search does not filter by exact city, so a "Brazil" query returns the whole country tag. We read the real locations on each listing and only describe what we saw.
Who is hiring right now

- RecargaPay: a remote Senior Product Designer role in Brazil. It is a fintech, and one of the few local employers we track.
- Addi: the Colombian fintech has 5 live roles on Woody, including a remote Senior Product Designer and a Staff Product Manager for conversational AI open across South America.
- Platzi: a Product Designer role based in Mexico City or Bogota, hybrid. This is the one non-remote listing we found.

What the roles pay
Here is the part to read carefully, because Woody data and public benchmarks tell different stories.
From Woody listings. Only 1 of the 22 Latin America roles we reviewed published a salary band. PadSplit's Senior Product Designer, open anywhere in South America, lists $50k to $80k. It is a contract role. Salary transparency is simply thin in the region, so treat any single figure as a data point, not a market rate. Compare that with Canada, where remote senior roles on Woody commonly sit in the $100k to $150k band.
From public benchmarks. Payscale reports an average base salary for product designers in Brazil of R$77,511 per year, based on 18 profiles updated in July 2026. It puts early-career total pay around R$62,435 and mid-career (5 to 9 years) around R$113,300. The samples are small, so read these as rough orientation in local currency.
The practical lesson: the gap between local-currency salaries and dollar-denominated remote offers is the single biggest financial lever in this market. Always ask whether a role pays in USD, whether you are employed or contracted, and who handles taxes.
Remote work and visas
Remote is the default here. Six of the 22 roles we reviewed were freelance or contract, which means you invoice, you handle your own taxes, and you rarely get local benefits. Browse freelance and contract roles if that suits you.
If you are not a local and want to live in the region while working remotely, the rules differ by country. According to a summary of Latin American nomad visas, Brazil's remote worker visa asks for about $1,500 per month in foreign income or roughly $18,000 in savings, valid for a year and renewable once. Colombia's Visa V requires about three times the minimum wage, roughly $1,400 per month, from foreign sources, and does not allow local employment. Mexico has no dedicated nomad visa and uses a temporary residence route based on income or savings. Argentina offers a nomad visa for 180 days with one extension.
Tax residency is separate from the visa. The same source notes that residency can start after about 183 or 184 days in Brazil and Colombia. Rules and fees change often, so confirm everything with the official consulate before you move.
How to break into this market
- Lead with timezone overlap. Most remote roles ask for overlap with US hours. Say so at the top of your application.
- Show fintech fluency. Payments, credit, wallets, onboarding and trust are the language of this market. A case study on a complex flow beats a polished visual exercise.
- Write English that reads like a teammate. Remote hiring is mostly asynchronous. Your written case studies are your interview.
- Check the contract type. Contractor roles are common. Know your rate, your invoicing currency and your tax setup before the final call.
- Apply to the geo-open roles. Roles that say "anywhere in South America" or list a long set of countries get fewer applications per country than a role tied to one city.
Where to go next
Start with the live product design roles, then narrow to UX, product management or remote. New Latin America roles land every week, and the best ones are gone in days.
