About the role
- Own and lead the design team and strategy for our core rent products
- Shape and drive a vision for the consumer experience
- Align and connect multiple teams to deliver on that vision and achieve business goals
- Facilitate and lead your team to explore and refine their solutions for critical projects
- Set a high standard for quality across everything your team does, from designing concepts to core features to contributions made to evolve our Design System, Ultraviolet
- Collaborate with other design leaders to ensure alignment and consistency across all teams working on the consumer experience
- Influence design and product decisions by staying in touch with how the design industry and UX trends are evolving
- Test folding AI into both your team workflows and our UX strategy to build for the future
- Invest in the growth and development of both your direct reports and the design team at large through operational excellence
- Constantly reinforce our Flex principles and culture through your own behaviors and actions
Key qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a senior or staff product designer and 4+ years managing a team of designers
- Extensive experience designing and shipping consumer-facing native digital products, ideally in-house (not as a consultant or at an agency)
- Exposure to and understanding of what it takes to build and maintain a scaled, mature design system
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to understand complex technical and product challenges and translate them into compelling, clear design challenges for your team to tackle
- Ability to use both qualitative and quantitative insights to develop and guide your team toward a customer-centered strategy
- Ability to give direction throughout each stage of the design process, from research to concepting to refinement and prototyping
- Demonstrated aptitude for getting things done to make your team successful β wearing several different hats when necessary
- Comfort with ambiguous problems
- Motivation to be a self-starter
- Passion for financial products and improving peopleβs financial lives
- Nice-to-have: experience designing and building Fintech products
- A portfolio of work detailing your contributions to shipped solutions
Compensation
- The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
- For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $231,000 - $253,000.
