The Opportunity
Weβre looking for a freelance Sr. Product Designer to join our team on a contract basis for 4 months (April β August 2026). Youβll own design across two product areas: our internal tools and our client-facing payments experience. The work ranges from building a new internal tool from early concepts through a shippable MVP, to exploring improvements to how clients understand and manage their healthcare costs. This is a hands-on IC role embedded within our cross-functional pod structure. Youβll work directly with PMs and engineers, own your work end-to-end, and ship real designs.
What Youβll Be Doing:
- Design and ship internal tooling for our operations teams β building products that improve day-to-day workflows for internal specialists.
- Explore and design client-facing payment and insurance experiences β a mix of greenfield explorations and improvements to how clients understand and manage their healthcare costs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders to bring designs from exploration to implementation-ready specs.
What Weβre Looking For:
- End-to-end ownership β youβre comfortable going from a problem brief to a tested, implementation-ready design.
- Internal tools and ops tooling experience β youβve designed admin panels, dashboards, workflow tools, or similar. You know how to make complex operational workflows usable.
- Cross-functional collaboration skills with proven ability to work effectively with Engineering, PM, and other disciplines.
- Strategic mindset with a passion for 0-to-1 product development and the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Exceptional craft with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to pixel-perfect execution.
- Prototyping expertise across multiple tools and mediums, with the ability to bring ideas to life quickly and effectively.
Youβll Be a Good Fit If:
- 5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and exceptional execution.
- Senior-level experience with proven track record of leading complex, high-impact product initiatives.
- Experience working on consumer-facing and B2B or internal products with significant user impact.
- Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Cursor, etc.).
- Strong understanding of design systems, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present and articulate design decisions.
Employment Type:
- Contract, 1099, 4 months; because this is a 1099 contract position, and as such, does not include benefits provided to full-time employees.
- Full Time/Part Time: 40 hrs/week. This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work onsite from our (NYC/SF/Seattle) hub location three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) OR this is a fully remote position located within the United States.
- Pay Rate: $100 - $200 USD per hour.
Full Time Employee Benefits:
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus life and disability coverage.
- Parental Leave & Family Support: Up to 18 weeks paid leave and a new child stipend.
- Financial Wellness: 401(k) program and equity opportunities.
- Meals & Home Office Support: Stipends for home office setup and ongoing funds for meals, with tailored perks for both remote and in-office employees.
- Time Off to Recharge: Flexible PTO, 12 paid holidays, and a full winter break week.
- Wellness & Development: Annual stipends to put towards personal & professional growth.
- Mental & Physical Health Support: No-cost access to therapy through the Grow platform, weekly flexible hours for self-care (βMental Health Mornings/Afternoonsβ) and memberships to leading wellness apps (such as One Medical, Headspace, and Talkspace).
- Extra Perks: Pet insurance discounts, commuter benefits, and global travel assistance.
