Job Overview
We are seeking a talented Technical Game Designer with a passion for life simulation games. You will play a key role in designing and implementing engaging gameplay systems, working closely with artists, programmers, and writers to create a living, breathing world that aligns with our creative vision.Your role as the Technical Game Designer will be a dynamic blend of game systems design and implementation, working closely with the Creative Director to deliver systems that elevate the experience for players.
Responsibilities
- Gameplay System Design: Develop and iterate on core simulation mechanics, ensuring they are fun, balanced, and engaging.
- Vision and Execution: Define the vision of the systems and be able to make decisions which achieve that vision and meet the players expectations.
- Prototyping: Collaborate with the team to build prototypes for new game features and test innovative ideas that enhance player experience.
- 3 Cβs: Help drive the Character, Camera and Controls for the experience through the life simulation lens.
- Scripting & Implementation: Use scripting languages and tools to implement gameplay features, AI behaviors, and interactive storytelling elements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including art, writing, and audio, to ensure design elements are cohesively integrated.
- Documentation: Create detailed design documents outlining gameplay mechanics, systems, and feature specifications.
- Performance Optimization: Work with engineers to ensure systems are optimized and maintain performance standards on target platforms.
Technical Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in game design, with a strong focus on technical implementation and system design in a simulation or similar genre.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python) and familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate creative concepts into functional gameplay.
- Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Creative Vision: A passion for life simulation games and a keen understanding of what makes these experiences engaging for players.
- Strong understanding of game design principles, player psychology, and narrative techniques.
