About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, execution-driven Mid-Level UX/UI Designer to join our growing product team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave cover. This role is focused on building and owning the end-to-end UX workflow: transforming validated product hypotheses into intuitive, high-quality interaction designs that meet real user needs.
Youβll focus on translating well-defined product problems into clean, usable, component-based designs. Youβll work closely with PMs and engineers to ensure we deliver intuitive, usable solutionsβfast, consistently, and with craft. Youβll also help strengthen our philosophy of simplicity by applying core UX principles to improve usability across the product.
Key Responsibilities
Design execution and craft
- Translate user needsand validated product ideasand requirements into wireframes, flows, and polished UI components
- Own the design process from concept through handoff to engineering, ensuring clarity, consistency, and usability
- Build UX that scalesβyour work should hold up across mobileand desktop, new usersand power users, in any language
- Work within and contribute to an evolving component-based design system
- Conduct or support user researchand usability testing; synthesize insights into actionable improvements
Design process and infrastructure
- Establishand maintain a structured Figma workspaceand design architecture
- Build out a scalable design libraryand visual style guide to ensure design consistencythat aligns with brand guidelines
- Collaborate with other designersand engineers to evolveand optimize how we workand document design decisions
Cross-functional collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers to deeply understandthe problemand shape problem statementsand solution spaces
- Work directly with engineers to ensure accurate implementation of your designs
- Participate in design iterations, rapid prototyping, user testing, QA handoffs, and cross-functional reviews
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience designing digital products or SaaS applications
- Strong interaction design skillsand deep understanding of usability best practices
- Fluency in Figmaand component-driven design systems
- A portfolio that demonstrates the ability to translate product intent into functional, user-first design
- Comfortable managing own workloadand maintaining velocity in a remote, async team
- Comfortable testingand using AI solutions to accelerate design
- Must have an existing suitable homeworking set-up in place
- Must havethe right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer sponsorship)
- Must be available immediately orwith a notice period of a month or less
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EdTech, education platforms, or creator tools
- Familiarity with implementingand documenting design libraries
- Experience working closely with PMsand engineers in delivery-focused environments
- Understanding of user-centred design, user testing, rapid prototyping, and QA workflows
